Have you ever invented a new calendar or method of counting time for a story? If so, what was your process for making it understandable in the context of your story? If not, think about the idea and what you would need to do in order to successfully create a new concept of time keeping . Let’s share and discuss these ideas in the comments here or in the forums.
For the YA fantasy novel that I’m working on (all right, I’ve only written the outline and synopses for the trilogy) I came up with different ways for measuring everything, including time. I wrote a foreword detailing how the compare to measurements known to the reader (utilizing American Standard for comparison). I’m hoping that will suffice, and will ease the confusion as the reader dives into the story.
