The Writers Circle: NaNoWriMo Poll 2014

TWC
One of our goals here at Today’s Author is to help all of the writers among us to do what we love to do: write. One of the best ways to accomplish this is by talking to each other and learning from each other.  Our Writers Circle series is designed to do just that – provide a chance for us to discuss writing, editing and publishing questions.

This week’s topic is:

With the calendar saying it has already flipped over to October, thoughts for many thousands of people around the world have also flipped over to National Novel Writing Month.  So given our wide community we’d like to know what your thoughts are about NaNoWriMo this year.

After taking our unscientific poll, leave a comment to discuss NaNoWriMo:  Have you participated in NaNoWriMo? What have you learned or gained from it?  Will you do it again?  If you haven’t done NaNoWriMo, are there reasons you would or would not consider it in the future?

Let’s discuss this in the comments and see what our community thinks.

  1. I wasn’t going to do NaNo this year, but I think I’ll use the month to finish off the book of poetry I’m writing, and also possibly to polish up the second draft of my novel (depending how much of it I manage in October).

There is no NaNo group where I’m living now, but that’s probably not a bad thing. I find I get easily sidetracked by the social aspect 😉

  2. I’m not doing NaNo, but I’m thinking about doing the outlines for two nonfiction books–one is a story of medical research fraud, and the other is an analysis of disaster movies. 🙂

  3. I chose “On the Fence”, but really my situation is “I’m on vacation for much of November, so I’m informally doing a 1/2 version of NNWM.”

  4. If I finish editing my book, I’ll give it a go.

  5. I just signed up for it for the very first time. It’s time I get my butt in gear.
